How do you prevent sunburn after a day in the sun?

☀️ How do you prevent sunburn after a day in the sun?

A day at the beach, a walk in nature or relaxing on the terrace – the sun is wonderful, but it can also be treacherous. Even on a cloudy day you can get a sunburn without noticing. A sunburned skin is not only painful, but also damaging in the long term. Fortunately, with the right preparation and aftercare you can easily prevent sunburn.

1. Wear sunscreen every day – even when it's cloudy

UV rays also penetrate clouds. Therefore, use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day . Are you really going into the sun? Then choose SPF 50, preferably a broad-spectrum filter that protects against both UVA and UVB.

💡 Please note: Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours, or immediately after swimming or sweating.

2. Wear protective clothing and accessories

In addition to sunscreen, clothing also helps enormously against sunburn. Think of light, airy fabrics , a sun hat and sunglasses with UV protection . There are even garments with built-in UV filters (UPF).

👕 Protect your shoulders and neck extra well – these are areas that burn quickly.

3. Avoid the sun at peak hours

The sun is strongest between 12:00 and 15:00 . Try to avoid direct sunlight during these hours or seek shade regularly. Plan beach walks or gardening in the early morning or afternoon, for example.

4. Be careful with certain ingredients

Some products, such as retinol, glycolic acid, and certain essential oils , make your skin more sensitive to the sun. It's best to use these products at night or take extra precautions when exposed to the sun.

5. Strengthen your skin with antioxidants

A healthy and strong skin can better withstand the sun. Therefore, use serums or creams with vitamin C, E or niacinamide . These ingredients protect against free radicals and reduce damage from UV radiation.

6. LED light therapy as recovery after sun exposure

Is your skin still slightly burned or sensitive after a day in the sun? LED light masks can support recovery:

  • 🟢 Green light has a calming effect and helps reduce redness
  • 🔴 Red light stimulates cell renewal and helps with skin repair
  • 💧 In combination with moisturizing after sun or aloe vera you enhance the effect

Only use an LED mask after sun exposure, never immediately before prolonged sun exposure.

7. Hydrate from the inside and out

Sun dries out your skin. So drink enough water and use hydrating skincare such as gels with aloe vera, aftersun with panthenol or sprays with thermal water. This helps your skin to stay hydrated from the inside and outside.
